Thinning soundboards

This was A LOT easier than I thought it would be, and the results are
really good too!

Fasten the wood with masking tape folded lengthwise, then go at it
with the belt sander. They're almost done, maybe the tired drum sander
can finish them.

Builder on the move

I ran into some trouble with my drum sander yesterday, I really need a
proper motor or I'll have to rebuild it in some way. So I bring the
tops, backs and sides out dad's workshop today. We were going anyway
to fill the quota of family time, and what better way to do it than to
improvise a way to thin wood?

The sander really bothers me. I don't know enough of electric motors.
Yesterday was a complete disaster.

My daughter Li learns to carve

She turns four in a month, and she is so eager to do the stuff her
older brother does. So today she got to use the carving knife and we
made a little figure together.

Joining top and back, cherry

Leaving the halves a bit thicker than last time, I glue them together
with string and wedges. I'll reduce thickness in the drum sander after
joining the ones of ash and walnut.

Vacation's kicking in, day job still produces an endless stream of
emails and I'm going away with my family. I guess it will be more
playing than building for a while now.
