Saddle

I'm trying an aluminium saddle and nut on this one. Can't publish the nut yet, it has to be adjusted some more. It was easy to shape and I think it looks quite cool.

Label

As on number 1, the label is by my son.

Done!

Ok I strung her up with leftover strings and it's fantastic. Action is still way too high, and the strings keep stretching, but I can tell it's a good sounding Ukulele.

Finish

First coat drying. I'll make the nut while I'm waiting.

Headstock veneer

This slightly bizarre setup is for clamping the veneer.

Bridge

Progress was slow tonight, but there was some. Bridge almost finished, after 3 hours. I suspect mr Howlett of UK Ukes would have made a whole beautiful ukulele in the same amount of time...

Tuesday evening

Brother to the right, pet on left. Fretted fingerboard in place. Next up is bridge, headstock veneer, nut, final sanding... Oh I got to get some sleep.

Dry fitting, with brads at frets 1 and 11. My son saves the shavings, for later use as robot hair. A recycling approach!
